Mines Advisory Group Director of HR

Director of Human Resources
Competitive salary, plus contributory pension and relocation package
Based in Manchester City Centre
Since 1989 MAG (Mines Advisory Group) has been making the world a safer place. This is an exceptional opportunity to join the leadership of this Nobel Peace Prize winning organisation.
With 2,500 staff in 15 countries and a respected voice in its sector, day in, day out, MAG saves the lives and limbs of countless men, women and children by destroying landmines and other lethal debris of war. MAG helps to build a brighter future by releasing vast areas of land back into safe and productive use, enabling families to re-establish their livelihoods safely after devastating conflicts.
MAG is all about people. The role of Director of HR is a newly created one, reflecting the importance we are placing on our people in achieving our ambitious forward plans.
The right candidate will be looking for a mix of strategic and operational responsibility and will be capable of ensuring both business-like service delivery and buy-in, and understanding of people-based initiatives in MAG. An NGO background is not essential but you’ll have experience of working with international operations and will show you share the values of MAG. You will have a track record of development and delivery of strategic HR services, significant post-qualification experience in a senior HR management role, and a sound understanding of how to apply current HR thinking and best practice to differing contexts.
With the gravitas to fulfil corporate management team responsibility, you will have the strength of character and determination to drive the HR agenda in MAG.
The role will involve occasional, not frequent, international travel to hardship locations.
