Video editor Christian Aid

Christian Aid is committed to eradicating world poverty. Our in-house film and photography team plays a key part in making films that break through indifference. We’re looking for an experienced Video editor to join our dynamic, multidisciplinary Communications division.
The film and photography team has a demanding year-round schedule capturing content for a wide range of purposes and delivering to tight deadlines. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging film and audio-visual projects that communicate the impact of our work. You’ll work closely with colleagues and client teams, but will also thrive when working independently - making creative decisions that ensure projects are original, distinctive and tailored for our audience.
You will have a strong technical and creative background with a minimum of two to three years professional editing experience. You must be an Avid editor – experience of FCP is useful but not necessary.
Fully experienced in the entire editing process, you will be confident digitising and conforming various media formats, completing both offline and online edits, sound design, colour correction and playout/upload. You will be familiar with the differences between cutting for the web and cutting for broadcast and, as the first port of call for all edit queries, you’ll be happy to troubleshoot and manage the facility in conjunction with our external support contract.
This role requires extremely good time-management as you will regularly be required to multi-task and effectively juggle a range of competing priorities to deliver on time.
This is a great opportunity to join a fast-paced communications team working on a wide variety of content designed to inspire and engage viewers.
Please show your suitability for this post by giving answers to the following questions: Using the guidance notes may help you formulate your answers.
Strive for improvement
The media landscape is changing quickly, with approaches and techniques constantly evolving. Please give an example of an innovative VT you have been responsible for. What choices did you make? What action did you take to fill any gaps in your skills or knowledge? How was your creativity and innovation used to enhance the message being communicated?
Deliver results
In this role you will often have to work individually – working from the rushes to fulfil a brief without frequent input from an edit producer. Please give an example of a time you have worked in this way. What was the overall outcome? How did you judge it’s success? How did you incorporate feedback?
Steward resources
As the lead editor, stewarding Christian Aid’s resources will be a vital part of your role, including maintaining the equipment and managing your time to give best value. Please give an example of your experience managing multiple projects. How did you prioritise projects with competing deadlines?
Please also provide a link to a current showreel.
We value the contribution each person makes to the success of our organisation. That’s why you can expect a wide range of rewards and benefits, including a generous holiday allowance, a season ticket loan and flexibility that will ensure you enjoy a good work/life balance.
As this post is UK based, non-EC nationals will require current and valid permission to work in the UK.
To apply for this post, please download an application pack and email your completed UK & Ireland application form together with a link to your showreel to:   recruitment@christian-aid.org quoting the reference number.
