i+solutions is a young and dynamic organization located in Woerden with a local office Washington DC. In Woerden we employ about 60 persons and work with sub-contractors across the globe.
Our clients include international organizations such as WHO, UNFPA, Ministries of Health and of Foreign Affairs, USAID, the Global Fund, UNITAID, NGO’s and private companies. We are the major pharmaceutical procurement partner in the US Government-funded PEPFAR program and the Voluntary Pooled Procurement program (VPP) for the Global Fund, with a total yearly procurement volume over 300 million USD.
As a result of our growing international activities we are looking for a:
Business Development Consultant (fulltime)
The Business Development Consultant assesses and initiates possibilities and new areas of activities, potential funding agencies, governments, NGO’s, international donors and foreign ministries within existing and new networks.
The Business Development Consultant is responsible for leading the periodic reviews and for the updating of planned and active projects, funding data and contract running and expiring dates to ensure that short- and long-term continuation of i+solutions financial objectives are achieved. He/she is responsible for providing, maintaining, establishing and reporting on (potential) funding sources and networks.
Key Responsibilities:
Analysis of Universal Access to Medicines and Health Products market trends
• Provide quarterly reports on the dynamics in the “access to medicines” sector with specific focus on resource availability in public and
private sector for supply chain management support to low and middle income countries to management.
• Support management with planning, SWOT analyses and the identification of opportunities for new activities and/or the expansion of our
current initiatives.
Networking
• Grow our existing client base and support efforts to maintain and expand our network of key contacts in funding agencies with focus on
health and/or pharmaceutical supply chain funding.
• Close the “know-do” gap through active participation in sector relevant executive meetings, events and conferences or actual involvement in
the implementation of projects.
• Perform risk analyses and balancing time-cost ratios to focus effort on the most appropriate networking/fundraising activities with the
highest probability of success.
Strategic Thinking
• Participate in our dedicated acquisition team and formulate new strategic initiatives to promote access to medicines in Low and Middle
income countries, based on information gained by trend analysis, by networking and by practical involvement in projects.
• Plan and deploy strategies to support the implementation of the funding strategy.
New Business Development
• Analyze and prepare due diligence for new opportunities and activities.
• Identify, cultivate, and solicit prospective donors, respond to requests or express interest in new projects.
• Develop new projects and participate in teams of technical experts to capture and translate their project ideas in proposals.
• Write proposals expertly in both English and French, and design logical frameworks and budgets.
• Negotiate contracts and support the transition from an acquisition stage to actual project status.
• Design, develop and maintain our public profile that supports best value decision making at both strategic and funding level.
• Work as a consultant in selected relevant proposals.
Other miscellaneous tasks as and when required.
The ideal candidate:
• Is a visionary with a helicopter view combined with a “can-do” style, is able to work in a team on various leads and projects at the same
time. Has business and acquisition competencies, is a self-starter/pioneer.
• Has a Masters degree in Pharmacy, Health or Health Logistics or comparable relevant study.
• Has a proven track record in formulating projects in line with international donors such as USAID, Dutch Foreign Affairs etc. as well as in
achieving fundraising goals.
• Is an accomplished, result driven professional with relevant expertise in pharmaceutical supply chain management. Has more than 10 years
of experience as an active consultant in strengthening health care systems in low income countries, especially in Africa.
• Has a proven track record in project formulation in line with conditions of various donors.
• Has an excellent command of both English and French, verbal and written (required), Dutch is preferred.
• Is able and willing to travel if and when required.
