Position Summary

The Finance Rotation Program is a structured, new hire development program designed to build on the knowledge gained at university. The program is intended to enhance technical, behavioral and leadership skills. The program consists of three role assignments across various functions including an international assignment to one of the BG’s international locations/hubs.

Key Accountabilities

A Rotation Program employee currently has the opportunity to move through the following diverse roles within the Finance organization: 

Energy Marketing Commodity Settlements Analyst: 
• Invoicing monthly trading settlements across a variety of commodities, including communication with BG’s main joint venture partner, EXCO, on matters regarding:
• Physical Natural Gas 
• Financial Natural Gas
• Natural Gas Liquids
• Liquefied Natural Gas
• Identifying and resolving external counterparty discrepancies, questions and disputes while focusing on building relationships through customer service skills
• Maintaining and analyzing accounts payable and receivables for multiple counterparties, including aging items, and attending monthly review meetings to discuss progress
• Interfacing with internal traders, schedulers and other commercial team functions along with interacting with other departments such as legal, compliance, risk, credit, tax, gross margin, accounts payable, and confirmations
• Updating training documents, workbooks and presentations with a focus on cross-training with colleagues within the Back Office function
• Developing and accumulating a working knowledge of the competitive energy market, including supply and demand, current and future projects, political involvement, and environmental effects
• Responding and assisting to ad hoc requests related to business performance and trends
• Enhancing business skills through preparing and presenting on business related topics, which allows opportunities to knowledge share and cross-train colleagues.
Energy Marketing Gross Margin Analyst: 
• Gathering monthly, quarterly and year to date reporting for the GEMS Houston - Marketing, Logistics and Optimization (MLOe) trading operations for Natural Gas, Natural Gas Liquids, and Power commodities including:
• Analytical procedures surrounding system outputs 
• Working closely with the Front, Mid and Back-office teams to ensure consistency within the asset
• Reporting commentary as presented to internal stakeholders and to Group Finance
• Exposure to Derivative Accounting including analysis of the technical components, the relationship with BG’s Global LNG, US Production and domestic marketing and trading businesses, and the monthly related reporting for managerial and financial purposes 
• Performing analysis on specific areas of financial statements including the asset’s balance sheet, income statement, working capital, etc.
• Supporting the external and internal audit functions 
Exploration and Production Finance Analyst: 
• Coordination and communication with BG’s main joint venture partner, EXCO, on matters regarding:
• Revenue recognition, including revenue reconciliation to production
• Gas and oil production reporting and forecasting to internal and external stakeholders
• Monitoring the capital and operational expenditures of the business
• Authorization for Expenditure process for wells drilled by EXCO and other operators
• Executing ad hoc analysis projects and audits for cost recovery purposes
• Delivering on monthly reporting packages regarding the asset’s financial position and results
• Leading efforts in the group’s internal control, general and administrative, seconded employee processes, reserves tracking and various reconciliation projects
• Assisting in the group’s monthly performance reviews which are presented to upper management
• Collaborating with BG’s midstream joint venture, TGGT, and reporting financial position
• A requirement for effective time management, strong work ethic and adherence to meet deadlines
Energy Marketing Forecast, Planning and Analysis Analyst: 
The function of this role includes: 
• Supporting budgeting, planning and forecasting cycles for the following GEMS businesses: Global LNG, Oil Marketing, Shipping, and North America Gas & Power Marketing with a specific focus on:
• Balance sheet, cash flow and income statements
• Key performance indicators/metrics
• Analysis of projected performance
• Liaising closely with Group Financial Planning to understand planning and forecasting process, deadlines and deliverables and alignment of cross-asset assumptions across the Group.
• Supporting Group Finance on various ad hoc information requests (Board reports, Investor Relations, etc.)
• Communicating with operational accounting management and staff to understand actual performance vs. plan and forecast assumptions.
• Developing reports for communicating key business plan and forecast data, as well as actual performance, to executive management.
• Working with commercial management in development of business plan and forecast, gaining understanding of business drivers, risks and opportunities.
• Liaising closely with commercial management, operational accounting management and staff, strategy and economics, and investment appraisal to understand and model implications of new projects and assumptions for the business plan and forecast.

Key Rotation Program Accountabilities
This program provides new hires higher level expectations and opportunities above the daily desk responsibilities. The goals of these accountabilities are to develop an individual both intellectually and professionally. The rotation program accountabilities include: 
Creating and delivery of presentations on self-chosen business topics that extend learning as a complement to desk responsibilities
Career and professional development through self-chosen Director level mentors
Networking within the Finance Department and all of BG Group including the Global Energy Marketing & Shipping and Exploration & Production organizations 
Active involvement in BG specific initiatives (Finance or otherwise) and volunteer programs 
These accountabilities are designed for a Rotation Program candidate to have the opportunity to develop and transform from a recent undergraduate into a well-rounded professional in the Finance Department within BG Group.

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute

Specialist Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:
A Finance Rotation Program candidate will have an undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related business discipline. Relevant work experience and/or summer internship will be an advantage.

As important as academic qualifications will be personal characteristics and attributes. A Finance Rotation Program candidate should be highly motivated, hard-working, and eager to learn. An individual must be able to successfully manage and deliver several projects concurrently. Additionally, the individual must be confident and comfortable to interact and collaborate with all levels of leadership to seek guidance to ultimately perform desk and rotation program responsibilities at a high level.

As BG is an international company with global reach and impact, the program requires a global assignment to increase the individual’s skills, knowledge and diversity for the purposes of further enhancing leadership capabilities. This assignment preferably will be an international assignment overseas but may also be a local role that requires significant touch points into global BG operations.
