Grid & Electricity Market Analyst

Your role
As the Grid and electricity market analyst, you are responsible for delivering internal analyses, external studies, policy positions, functioning of grid Working Groups, interfacing with researchers, policy-makers, system operators, under supervision of the Head of Policy Analysis supporting the work of the Political affairs division.
The Grid Electricity Market analyst leads more specifically research related to electricity grid and market.
Duties
External engagement
  • In close cooperation with the Political Affairs Division and with the lead of the Senior RA Advisor Grids, engage with ENTSO-E, national system operators, European Commission officials, Council officials, researchers, academics, consultants and other stakeholders on grid integration issues;
  • Close liaison with member company representatives through EWEA Working Groups.
Internal analyses
  • Identify the relevant internal and external information sources, including internal and external experts;
  • Collect, analyse and synthesise information;
  • Develop a yearly plan defining the topics, needed resources and involvement of other departments agreed by the Head of Policy Analysis and the Deputy-CEO;
  • On the basis of a timeline agreed with the Head of Policy Analysis, provide synthetic reports highlighting the main points and references, in a format suitable for internal and/or external communication;
  • Develop PowerPoint presentations highlighting the main results. Participate to events and perform external presentations to disseminate the main results to external audiences.
External studies
  • For studies requiring a strong expertise, work in close collaboration with external technical experts;
  • Strictly follow the contract implementation, and report regularly to the Head of Policy Analysis.
Working Groups
  • Managing and coordinate the working groups and their work:
    • “Grid Connection Requirements” and;
    • “Large Scale Integration” of wind power.
Your profile
  • Master in energy and/or engineering. Electrical Engineering background is preferred but science and other engineering branches would be considerate with strong work experience;
  • At least one year experience in collecting, analysing data and providing recommendations in an European context, preferably around renewable energy;
  • at least one year experience in a relevant field is preferred;
  • Fluent written and verbal English is mandatory, other languages are an asset to deal with external technical experts, subcontractors and members;
  • Excellent knowledge of electricity grids and market;
  • Excellent knowledge of wind power electrical design and operation;
  • Excellent technical skills to understand technical environment and societal issues related to wind;
  • Open mindset and good communication skills;
  • Proven analytical skills;
  • Strong ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines;
  • Problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work as a team player as well as independently;
  • Ability to work in a multicultural and international environment.
