Senior Assistant Accountant, Financial Operations Department
Duties and Responsibilities
Specific tasks will include:
Under the immediate supervision and coordination of the Accountant, the incumbent:
- Maintains books of accounts and ensures uniformity and consistency in recording and reporting transactions;
- Prepares schedules, analysis, summaries and reports on accounts; inputs into budget implementation process; conducts bank reconciliation;
- Prepares billing, tracks receivables and follows-up all outstanding items;
- Monitors budget implementation and compliance;
- Receives, reviews and keeps records of all incoming and outgoing accounting and financial working documents;
- Prepares cheques for payment of goods and services;
- Reconciles & registers bank account activity;
- Verifies correctness of the payroll and other staff benefits and deductions;
- Reviews the calculation of Per Diems and Ticket Reimbursements for Official Travels;
- Works closely together with other units, such as Disbursement and Treasury on Loans, repayments and investments;
- Verifies correctness of invoices, VAT returns and staff salary slips;
- Fills all paperwork relating to financial transactions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Applicants must have the minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent qualification in the country of study. Exceptionally strong practical experience may substitute.
- At least five years’ experience with increasing level of responsibilities working in multinational or international organizations.
Skills and other Requirements
- Highly skilled in Microsoft Office applications especially MS Excel, and other accounting software packages.
- Relevant SAP knowledge in Financial (FI), Material Management (MM), Controlling (CO), Inventory Management and eventually Human Resources Payroll would be preferred.
- Accuracy and confidence in dealing with financial information quickly and accurately.
- Honesty, discreetness and trustworthy necessary in dealing with financial and other confidential information.
- Good concentration ability and a good eye for details to pick up problems and notice mistakes.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English; working knowledge of German is essential.
- Ability to work with people of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds.
