Counsel, Legal Department
Job Profile
Under the supervision of the General Counsel, the incumbent will provide legal services of a general nature and medium complexity, solving legal problems and providing technical inputs into complex matters. He/she will also conduct a variety of research and analytical work, while carrying out general advisory that will contribute towards team objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
Specific tasks will include:
- Providing legal advice on public and private sector activities as well as trade finance transactions;
- Drafting and reviewing agreements in relation to public and private sector loans; grants; trade finance transactions, as well as finance-related activities;
- Providing legal services related to OFID’s Procurement Guidelines, Disbursement Procedures, Staff Rules and Regulations, administration, human resources and personnel practices, including the privileges and immunities of OFID and its staff.
- Participating in the exchange of ideas and knowledge sharing activities designed to broaden the skills of the legal team.
- On instruction, conducting research on legal developments and trends that might impact OFID’s operations in any way.
- Discharging such other assignments as may be required by the General Counsel from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
- Advanced university degree in Law; admission to the Bar or equivalent is preferred.
- A minimum of five years’ professional experience in law and preferably a minimum of two years of service at an international organization.
Skills and Competences
- Excellent command of written and spoken English including the ability to formulate legal contracts. Good knowledge of French, Spanish or Arabic is an asset.
- Excellent analytical and conceptual skills;
- Excellent presentation skills;
- Computer literacy with practical working experience with Windows, Excel, and other relevant software packages.
- Ability to work with people of different nationalities and cultural background.
