Technical Assistance Officer

Duties and Responsibilities
Specific tasks will include:
Under the immediate supervision of Head of the Grants Unit, the incumbent will be tasked with:
  • Reviews and evaluates projects and program applications for grant assistance submitted by various parties in accordance with OFID’s guidelines and policies governing the grant program;
  • Prepares the technical assistance grant proposals to be submitted to OFID’s Governing Board, as well as periodic progress reports on on-going operations;
  • Ensures the availability of sufficient information and data related to selected projects to form a complete project document;
  • Reviews the technical and financial progress reports on grant operations and preparation of withdrawal applications;
  • Prepares the correspondences related to grant assistance between OFID and the recipients, as well as between OFID and the entities sponsoring and/or implementing the projects and programs;
  • Manages and follows-up of on-going grant operations;
  • Maintains contacts with partners in the technical assistance area, i.e. international organizations, bilateral institutions, NGOs, etc.;
  • Prepares Analytical Development Reports to be occasionally undertaken with regards to the Fund’s technical assistance activities;
  • Performs other duties as may be required by the Director-General or Head of the Grants unit.
Qualifications and Experience
  • An Advanced university degree in Economics, Business Administration, Development, or other disciplines relevant to technical cooperation activities;
  • Minimum of five years professional experience in technical cooperation activities or project management, with increasing level of responsibilities garnered from working in multinational or international organizations.
Skills and Competencies
  • Demonstrated financial, credit (and preferably also economic) analysis skills through direct involvement in project and transaction financing;
  • Established excellent verbal and written communication skills in English;
  • Working knowledge of French, Spanish and Arabic will be an added advantage;
  • Good interpersonal and negotiation skills;
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet strict deadlines;
  • Computer literate with practical working experience with Windows, Excel, and other relevant software packages;
  • Ability to work with people from different nationalities and cultural background.
