Security Director - Field Operations

The Director of Security is overall responsible for providing strategic and operational direction on security risk management and crisis management preparedness of NRC. The Director is expected to have strong political and analytical skills; solid experience from humanitarian work and a broad network of national and international humanitarian security sector actors.
The Security Director represents security in NRC's Senior Management Meetings and reports to the Director of Field Operations and the Secretary General.
Overall management of security section, including line management of Head Office based staff (3) and roving security advisers (2).
Overall responsible for providing strategic and operational direction on security risk management in line with NRC’s overall strategic direction.
Overall responsible for crisis management preparedness in line with NRC’s overall strategic direction.
Develop, follow up and report on annual action plans.
Responsible for control compliance with overall security risk management policy and guidelines.
Support implementation and local adaptation of NRC security management framework and best practice in country operations. Recommend modalities for improvement.
Continuously seek to introduce, adapt, and strengthen accountability mechanisms and routines within the security and line management structure.
Overall responsible for gathering information and generating statistics and analysis on security trends at the global level.
Represent NRC in relevant networks.
Qualifications:
Relevant educational background.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience within the humanitarian field; enabling access to people affected by conflict; security and risk management.
Experience from managing humanitarian programs and operations in the field will be valued. Professional knowledge and proven experience in critical incident management in humanitarian operations.
Fluency in English, both written and verbal. French and or Arabic would be an asset.
