The Business Development Coordinator will be based in our beautifully located Bristol office, 20 minutes from the City Centre, working predominately with the Environment & Natural Resource and Governance (including Fragile States and Social Development) practice areas. Further areas of expertise include Health, Education, Rural Growth & Livelihoods and Monitoring & Evaluation.
Purpose of Position
Pursue new Business Development opportunities. Prepare and lead on bid/tender proposals
  • The incumbent will be responsible for expanding the business with a particular focus on developing a 'Small Projects Unit' (projects <£250,000).
  • You will be expected to develop your team, ensure excellent levels of customer service, develop the new business opportunity pipeline, and contribute to winning bids.
Support strategic and process improvement projects, to enhance the delivery of business development
  • The job holder will also be responsible for projects and ad-hoc support to process improvement and developing new tools to support business development objectives.
Position Responsibilities
  • Coordination of Business Development in the Bristol office
Working closely with Practice Area Leaders, and the Development Director to manage a small team of business development staff in Bristol to implement strategies to deliver revenue and profit targets.
  • Management of Selected Bids
You will act as Bid Manager on selected tenders with overall responsibility for ensuring high quality bids are submitted on time.
  • Management of the Opportunity Pipeline
Monitor and track the progress of 'Small Project' opportunities. Coordinate with relevant Practice Areas for a 'go/no go' decision on every opportunity.
  • Building Capacity in Business Development
Propose and implement process improvements to strengthen the firm's competitive performance in Business Development.
  • Reporting requirements
The role will report to the Development Director of GRM Futures Group, EMEA, supported by a Senior Manager in the Bristol office.
Minimum education and experience required
  • Relevant Bachelor's degree / Master's degree
  • A minimum of 3 - 5 years relevant work experience
  • A minimum of 2 years business development experience, including tracking and managing bids
  • People management experience.
Key competencies and professional expertise required
  • Experience in business development or project management roles
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including excellent IT skills
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Ability to conceptualize and write a bid proposal or project report
  • Sound business development and Client Relationship Management skills
  • Financial acumen and the ability to interpret and analyse financial reports
  • Sound problem solving and decision making skills
  • Well organised and high attention to detail
  • Willingness to travel and work abroad in developing countries.
