Leaseurope is looking for a Head of Asset Finance and Research, reporting directly to the Federation’s Director General.
Leaseurope is the voice of the leasing and automotive rental industries in Europe and is composed of 44 Member Associations in 32 countries.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The role and responsibilities of the Head of Asset Finance and Research include:
- Promoting leasing and raising its visibility with policymakers (including with the new Parliament and Commission), regulators, business associations and other stakeholders with a view to fast becoming the reference point in Brussels for the European leasing industry;
- Being in charge of the Federation’s lobbying activities, with direct responsibility for advocacy work in the fields of prudential supervision, shadow banking and IFRS lease accounting; supervision of other advocacy work in areas such as AML, IMD and other legal files;
- Ensuring coordination of, and coherence between, all Leaseurope policy positions and other external or internal output;
- Ensuring that Members Associations and industry participants are appropriately briefed of the strategic implications of regulatory developments at EU level;
- Engaging with Member Associations and other European federations as relevant to ensure effective lobbying outcomes;
- Providing direction with respect to the Federation’s research agenda and facilitating the work of the statistics and research team;
- Developing industry platforms (Business Councils), organising events, seminars, training programmes with the support of Leaseurope staff and external parties;
- Keeping track of Member satisfaction and steering new membership initiatives;
- Steering and producing content for Leaseurope’s various publications, communication and campaigning material, website, newsletter, etc.;
- Assisting the Director General and the Board of Directors in developing and implementing the Federation’s strategy.
QUALIFICATIONS
This is a challenging role that requires an extremely dedicated and motivated professional who is not afraid of working on topics and in an industry that are relatively technical in nature. The successful candidate will also be able to distil technical messages and position them at the right level and within the appropriate political and/or economic context depending on the audience. We are looking for someone who strives for excellence in their work, with excellent hands-on organisational and multi-tasking skills. The individual we are looking for must also be able to identify and make links between industry trends and future European legislative initiatives in view of steering the Federation’s research programme. They must also be able to harness research findings to contextualise and back up the Federation’s advocacy and campaigning work.
In addition to this, minimum requirements are:
- Relevant university degree (Masters or higher) with a financial/banking/economic background;
- Relevant professional experience of 7-11 years;
- Experience in the EU financial services regulatory environment and particularly prudential supervision issues;
- Familiarity with accounting standards, preferably IFRS.
Some background knowledge of the European leasing industry and a general understanding of the accounting setting process would be a plus, specific knowledge of the IFRS lease accounting project would be a distinct advantage.
Additional skills required:
- Fluent English (native level);
- Excellent drafting and proof-reading skills;
- Sense of diplomacy;
- Good at public speaking and presenting;
- Ability to lead and fit into a young, dynamic team with enthusiasm;
- The successful candidate must be able to prove their ability to grasp new technical issues quickly and be ready to learn on the job.
