National Field Sales Merchandising Manager

Diageo is the market leader in the spirits and RTD category and is #3 with a 12% share of the total alcohol beverage market in Australia. Fosters is the total market leader with 30% and LN is in 2nd position with 12%.
Merchandising is a critical part of our strategy to deliver best in store Execution.
This role is responsible for the managing the partnership with Creative Activation and key internal stakeholders to ensure that the merchandising program delivers against agreed SLAs (Service Level Agreements) and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).
Market Complexity
- This Merchandising Program covers the entire business unit of each State , and is made up of National Account and Independent outlets
- It is responsible for dealing with different Customer and State requirements and budgets.
- The role is responsible for ensuring the execution of service to key venues at key trading times across different States in accordance with the nationally aligned Service Model.
Leadership Responsibilities-
- Directly responsible for the management of the Third Party Partnership and driving the delivery of their accountabilities.
- Directly responsible for managing the Program Steering group and other key internal stakeholders to ensure Diageo engages with the program in line with clear roles and responsibilities and program planning timelines- Top 3-5 Accountabilities
SLAs (Targets % TBC)
This role is responsible for working in partnership with the National Program Manager from Creative Activation to deliver the program SLAs in line with Diageo strategic priorities. These SLAs are;
- Speed to shelf for NPD (as per Gate papers)
- New release / promotional tie up 90%
- POG / Dedicated space compliance 85%
- >85% staff retention with dedicated talent pool of no fewer than 3 ‘tagged’ merchandisers on the prog- m for accelerated Diageo recruitment program
- OOS reduction to be OOS on Exit 90% (including suggested orders)
- Financial management of program to budget ($3m)
- Coverage 98%,Callage 90%
Trade knowledge
Works with State Managers, NAMs and customer marketing to ensure Diageo wins in store by;
Ensuring excellent execution at the point of purchase and monitoring agreed sales driver standards and compliance to trading termsShares ideas with National Account Area managers and other key stakeholders on how we best execute with customers.
Execution excellence of all Account promotion programs
Implementation of category management initiatives in all categories we operate within
Assists National Account Managers with audit requests
Develop the capability of program:
Work in partnership with Creative Activation National Program Manager to ensure Creative Activation provide ready available merchandiser talent , that performs to agreed standards
Build a high performing climate by creating the right environment and removes blockages
Qualifications and Experience Required
Business Degree (Marketing/Commerce/Finance) preferred
Sales experience and/or industry related experience
People management experience, preferably sales orientated
Computer and all Microsoft applications literate
Strong influencing skill, planning and time management skills
Barriers to Success in Role
Unable to mobilise and energise around visions and plans
Does not live our standards and hold our people and Creative Activation to these
Inability to translate business goals into specific territory objectives
Uncomfortable in pushing back on others, including senior roles
Inability to manage own time and work load
