Junior Product Engineer

You are responsible for the optimal introduction of new products in new technologies and for the optimization of the yield (production success ratio) of existing products. You will also look at the analysis and interpretation of the test results in order to improve the yield and quality and to reduce costs.
Product engineers are at the same time investigators and inventors. They acquire an in depth knowledge of their products and like to investigate problems that occur in these products due unknown marginalities or unexpected manufacturing variations. After digging into the problems and demonstrating the root cause, they come up with solutions requiring either product adaptions or manufacturing changes. Not only are they interested in electronics circuits but regularly they have to focus on the operation of one transistor only. As real inventors they manage to fine-tune their products making them more stable, more reliable and cheaper. They work in a careful and very structured way to ensure first time right implementations. Due to the large multiplication effect of changes on products that are in volume production their results are immediately visible in the cost balance of their products. The Product engineers are also involved in the development of new technologies and new products. During the prototyping phase they have to bring in their knowledge to ensure a good manufacturability and yield right from the beginning. Being in a central position in the company, the Product engineers have a broad interaction field. They have regular interaction with design, sales, marketing, test, quality & reliability, waferfab and of course the customer.
