Data and Analytics Adviser (Monitoring & Evaluation)

Overview:
Nuru International is accepting applications for a Data and Analytics Adviser in our Monitoring and Evaluation Unit. This role will provide expert technical guidance on data analysis, evaluation design and methodology to contribute to demonstrating impact of Nuru’s integrated approach to ending extreme poverty in remote rural area. This role will also lead in the build-out of Nuru’s Salesforce-based centralized database system including interfacing with consultants, country teams in Ethiopia and Kenya and other members of the international operations team. Reporting to the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, the Data and Analytics Adviser will be a solid thought-partner, team player who is passionate about evidence-based decision making and eager to contribute to social change in the international development space.
Responsibilities:
Lead the institutionalization of Systematic Program Monitoring for Nuru International (NI):
· Conducts due-diligence on potential technical partners and support the negotiation process and partnership agreements for the Salesforce centralized database system.
· Manage oversight, development, and maintenance of the Salesforce database for program monitoring, including consulting with IT, Finance, and appropriate internal stateside staff, liaise with field side staff as needed.
· Provide ongoing technical guidance to the Nuru Kenya (NK) database administrator as requested and/or agreed upon by the NK M&E Program Manager (DM).
· Lead M&E team members in developing clearly documented and replicable procedures for collecting quality data and summarizing for program monitoring.
· Lead and promote regular and systematic data driven feedback loops between M&E and programs using monitoring data.
· Ensure program indicators follow S.M.A.R.T.E.R standards and align with industry standards.
· Compile quarterly report indicators with documented explanations from program managers.
· Collaborate with Nuru’s IT working group to define sustainable systems strategy post exit in NK and efficient data collection processes in Nuru Ethiopia (NE).
Advise on the development and implementation of high quality Evaluations for Nuru Projects:
· Research and recommend appropriate evaluation design, data collection, and analytical methods to measure program impact to M&E. Interface with the field via the M&E Program Strategic Adviser and Kenya and Ethiopia Program Specialists (PS) on implementation as needed.
· Collaborate on annual impact reports that align with the Nuru brand and are accessible to wide audiences.
· Collaborate with the M&E team on design of an integrated impact measurement system (Impact Programs) in NE.
Learning and Development Goals:
· Research and expand knowledge of industry standards for M&E related to one or more of Nuru’s key programs through readings, webinars, and conferences and leverage this knowledge in Nuru M&E’s Community of practice calls, strategic projects, development of guidelines and tools, project proposals, and donor communications.
· Regularly meet with M&E Director to discuss progress towards goals, make recommendations, and inform of challenges.
· Actively explore ways to be strategic and influential in communicating to peers and colleagues about M&E processes and results.

Required Skills and Attributes:
· Graduate degree (either MA or MS) with an additional 3-4 years of work experience, preferably with course work in international development, monitoring and evaluation, research methods, statistics, econometrics.
· Solid knowledge and experience working with STATA as well as both quantitative and qualitative data.
· Previous experience managing and/or developing a database. Salesforce experience a plus. Strong work ethic and commitment to Nuru’s mission, vision and theory of change
