Director, Center for International Science and Technology Policy

International Science and Technology Policy: The George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs seeks to hire a senior scholar in the field of International Science and Technology Policy for a position at the rank of associate or full professor. This position will be held by a distinguished scholar and dedicated educator with an international reputation. The position will be based in the Elliott School’s Center for International Science and Technology Policy and will include the Directorship of the Center. Depending on the successful candidate's background, a secondary appointment may be considered in a relevant unit outside the School. Teaching would include undergraduate and graduate students in the Elliott School and other students at the University. This appointment will be tenured, and it will begin in academic year 2014-15. Rank is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Basic qualifications: Applicants must have an advanced degree such as a Ph.D. in a relevant social science, physical science, or inter-disciplinary field; or a J.D. or L.L.D; with expertise in areas of international science and technology policy such as energy and natural resource issues, climate change, environmental security, United States national and international policy, sustainable development in relation to the environment, information technology policy, biotechnology policy and others. Applicants must have a record of professional accomplishments or potential in the areas of sustained and continuing high-quality research, substantial teaching experience, a track record of external funding, and a clear interest in policy issues that will support the Elliott School’s mission.
