Director Public Affairs

For a leading business association of European and International commerce, we are looking for a Director Public Affairs. The association, based in Brussels, brings together retailers, importers, brands and national associations to improve their political and legal framework.
The Challenge
To strengthen and extend  our lobbying activities  and coordinate with our overall communications. Representing the international policy interests of our members.
The objective is to increase active member involvement and a more prominent positioning of the association vis-à-vis stakeholders in Brussels and at the international level.
The Director Public Affairs will be part of the management team.
Responsabilities
  • Coordinate lobbying activities.
  • Develop stakeholder and media relations.
  • Develop new ideas in lobbying, communication and member programs and services.
  • Propose/ set  priorities and define actions for all business activities.
  • Help create shared vision and mutual understanding between the various stakeholders
  • Increase active member involvement in the associations’ policy practice
  • Be responsible for the international policy team
Profile
  • a senior director/management profile with leaderschip/vision skills.
  • Strong interpersonal  and people management skills
  • professional Experience in public affairs at a very senior level  is necessary.
  • Strategic thinking and acting skills
  • Experience in working with the EU decision making and international
  • Creative skills and ability to develop and implement innovative ways of lobbying, communication and members services
  • English is necessary and other languages are a plus
