Cullinan Diamond Mine

Cullinan Diamond Mine is situated in the town of Cullinan, 30km east of Pretoria. The mine is currently mining at a depth of 747 metres using mechanised trackless block-cave mining.

Electrician

The incumbent will be responsible for the electrical maintenance of rock breakers, drill rigs, ventilation doors, underground workshops, gully boxes, high-voltage substations and equipment according to sound engineering practice and equipment specifications.

Tasks and responsibilities:

• Investigate, diagnose and perform trade-related maintenance and repairs to equipment and machinery according to maintenance requirements
• Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations, manufacturing and Company standards
• Report all defects and breakdowns on equipment and machinery to the Foreman
• Develop, modify, construct/fabricate and install related equipment required for the safe operation of all engineering equipment
• Identify spares requirements and order according to departmental procedure
• Communicate with clients and supervisors on maintenance activities performed and equipment handover
• Work according to the Mine's Code of Practice and report any observations of this not being done
• Ensure personal and co-workers’ adherence to and compliance with Security and Company's SHE objectives.
  

Minimum requirements:

• Qualified Electrician with Trade Certificate at recognised/accredited institution
• Valid Code EB (08) public driver's licence
• 3 years' experience in high-voltage sub-stations and equipment
• Experience as an Electrician in a mining environment.

• Sound interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in English
• Independent, proactive thinking and motivated
• Ability to undertake own job planning
• High level of multi-skilling
• Pass Vienna Assessment (Level 2) - (test to be conducted on mine)
• Work overtime, be on standby and available for call-outs should the need arise.
