We are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and service-orientated professional for the position of HR Coordinator in the Corporate Services Program – Human Resources. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing close support to National Staff Manager.

The position will be based at CIMMYT’s headquarters located 45 km northeast of Mexico City, but will interact with many of CIMMYT´s experimental stations on a regular basis.

Specific responsibilities of this position will include:

  • Coordinate the administration and services for the assigned staff group to ensure effectiveness and compliance with HR policies and procedures as well as legal requirements of the host country.
  • Supervise assigned staff, train them and ensure the quality of their service delivery.
  • Provide advice and support to solve the problems of staff members.
  • Make sure that all data of the assigned staff group are maintained accurately and up to date in HR4U.
  • Ensure accuracy of the payroll inputs and solve problems associated with staff payments.
  • Manage onboarding and induction.
  • Contribute to the management of performance appraisals and associated compensation changes.
  • Assist in the recruitment and termination of employment ensuring compliance with policies, procedures and legal requirements.
  • Support the promotion and job grading exercises.
  • Assist in the administration and review of the benefits package including support for compensation surveys.
  • Participate in and contribute to the revision of policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the conducting of salary and fringe benefits market reviews.
  • Coordinate planning and logistics to support events undertaken by the section.
  • Carry out any activities assigned by the supervisor.

We are seeking candidates with the following qualification, skills and attitudes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Administration, Industrial Relations or equivalent, with specialization in Human Resources and associated areas.
  • An additional degree in law will be a definite advantage.
  • Minimum work experience of 5 years in a similar position, with in depth knowledge of Federal Employment Laws, Social Security Laws and fiscal aspects.
  • Excellent knowledge of Mexican Federal Labor Legislation, Mexican Social Security Act, Mexican Housing System Act, and Tax Legislation.
  • Excellent bilingual skills (English/Spanish), including presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Selected candidates must be proactive, innovative, and well articulate.
  • High level of leadership, analytical thinking and sensitiveness to interact effectively with all staff members and recognize their needs.
  • High sense of responsibility and discretion.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; Ability to work as a team and under pressure in a multidisciplinary and multinational work environment.
  • Time availability is required.
  • Occasional travel availability is required.
