The University invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of Business and Management.
The University
Opened in October 1991, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology ("HKUST") is a dynamic international research university dedicated to the advancement of learning and scholarship, with special emphasis on postgraduate education and close collaboration with industry and business, and with the vision of becoming a leading university with significant international impact and strong local commitment.  Within its short history, the University has come to be regarded as a leading player in the international higher education scene and established a strong presence in the Asia Pacific Region. English is the language used in teaching, research and administration. 
The Business School
Established in 1991, the HKUST School of Business and Management is internationally recognized as a leading business school in the Asia Pacific region, achieving a variety of prestigious academic rankings. The School's strengths lie in its high-quality research, world-class international faculty, full range of program offerings as well as diverse and high-caliber students. Being a research powerhouse, its 140-strong international faculty members are renowned experts and leading thinkers in their field. Their innovative research approach together with their diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds have made possible a highly stimulating environment for student learning and positively impacted the development of both the business and social development of the region. The School's high quality research is ranked No.1 in Asia and No. 16 in the world. On the teaching front, the acclaimed Kellogg-HKUST EMBA Program has ranked No.1 in the world four years in a row. HKUST's MBA Program is also ranked No.1 in Asia and among the world's Top 10 for the last four years in the Financial Times.
The School's proximity to Mainland China provides students with an exceptional learning experience in its culture and socio-economic development as well as cross-border business practices. The School's strong presence in the region is simply one component of its international stature, which is reflected both in its world-wide research collaborations and program partnerships with institutions in Europe, North America and the Middle East. The recent opening of the Lee Shau Kee Business Building signifies a new era in the School's development.
The Role
The Dean of the School is an executive as well as faculty appointment, and is a member of the senior administrative team of the University. The appointee is expected to provide energetic leadership and vision in effecting the academic objectives of the School; in guiding the School in its diverse activities including program developments, research directions, academic partnerships and business linkages; and further advancing its global stature.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have academic qualifications and a record of outstanding scholarship in his/her chosen field. Proven experience in university administration at senior level, with demonstrated ability to provide strong leadership in academic administration at tertiary level will be essential. He/she will have a global vision and a demonstrated commitment to academic excellence and the development of higher education. Equally important is the ability to work successfully with scholars, researchers, senior academic personnel and university administrators.
TERMS & APPLICATIONS/NOMINATIONS
Concurrent with a professorial appointment, the appointment will normally be for an initial term of three years which may be renewed for a second term. Competitive remuneration and generous fringe benefits, including housing where appropriate, will be provided.
