DIRECTOR AT UNU-CENTRE FOR POLICY RESEARCH (UNU-CPR)

The UNU is the academic arm of the United Nations system. Its mission is to contribute through collaborative research and postgraduate education, dissemination of knowledge and advisory services, to efforts to resolve the pressing global problems of human survival, development and welfare that are the concern of the United Nations, its Peoples and Member States. The University functions as a think tank for the United Nations system and for UN Member States providing knowledge-based policy advice.

UNU-CENTRE FOR POLICY RESEARCH (UNU-CPR)

(DUTY STATION: TOKYO, JAPAN)
The new UNU-CPR will undertake policy research related to issues of peace, international security and global development, drawing on work elsewhere in the UNU system and more widely. The Director will have the overall responsibility for fundraising, as well as the direction, organization, administration and programmes of the Centre under the direction of the Rector of the UNU.
Qualifications: A high-quality graduate degree in the field of public policy, political science, law, economics, international development, anthropology, or a related field.
Experience: A strong international research background and publications in areas related to peace, security, global development, and/or public policy with knowledge of and experience in the think-tank world. Expertise related to knowledge translation, research communication, and policy development, implementation and assessment is essential. A proven record of effective policy leadership in academic or research institutions, or in international/national civil service is required, as well as detailed knowledge of the UN and its functions and activities.

Candidates should possess excellent communication skills with fluency in English; one additional official language of the United Nations would be desirable.
