Regulatory Affairs Advisor ETS (Emissions Trade System)

Open-ended contract to start ASAP,

reporting to the Head of Political Affairs

Your role

As the Regulatory Affairs Advisor you are responsible for developing, strengthening and broadening an extensive advocacy network across the EU institutions and implement targeted lobbying strategies to impact the political processes

You play a key role in the strengthening of an effective ETS EU policy and an effective implementation of climate negotiations leading to a stable cost on greenhouse gas pollution

You promote wind energy as a key solution to fight climate change during international climate negotiations

You play a key role in the effective implementation of environmental issues such as birds and bats, noise issues, Natura 2000, marine environmental issues.

Duties

Regulatory Affairs Advisor

• You advocate to EU representatives (Commission and EP) and national governments in order to improve political and legal framework for wind energy
• You write policy positions papers, reports and presentations related to his/her specific areas in line with EWEA strategy
• You advise and liaise EWEA members on relevant decisions at EU level
• You collect technical information in his/her area of expertise in order to develop consistent and irrefutable arguments aimed at implementing effectively EWEA strategy

Climate change and environment

• You put wind at the forefront in the climate picture and present it to EU decision makers as a key solution to decrease greenhouse gas emissions
• You liaise with NGOs (eg. Birdlife, GP, WWF, ...)
• You develop clear messages and arguments related to birds, bats and health impact of wind in order to decrease mistrust around wind energy
• You develop networking with key-decision makers in order to influence positively negotiations around climate
• You coordinate international climate actions with the Global Wind Energy Council

Your profile

• Master degree, preferably in European politics and/or in environment and energy
• Three years experience in relations with European institutions, preferably around renewable energy Experience of writing in an EU or international context is a real asset
• Outstanding written and verbal English is mandatory, native equivalent
• Excellent writing skills and passion for writing online
• Proven ability to manage complex organizational and political relationships
• Excellent knowledge of European an international climate policy and climate negotiation process
• Sound knowledge of the EU institutions and decision-making processes
• Strong ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines
• Good time management and ability to prioritize
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills
• Ability to meet short deadlines
• Ability to work in a multicultural and international environment
• Strong supporter of renewable energy and, more specifically wind and ETS
