Human Rights Watch (“HRW”) is seeking a temporary Coordinator to support its fundraising efforts in Germany. The Coordinator will report to the Associate Director of Development and Outreach in Germany.
Responsibilities:
1. Planning and preparing for events and conducting follow-up;
2. Coordinating events, budgets and fundraising for the German Committees;
3. Preparing event-related materials and overseeing event-related mailings;
4. Tracking communication to German Committee members, donors and supporters;
5. Generating financial reports, lists and queries and overseeing data entry for special events;
6. Managing the administration of major gifts prospects and undertaking prospect research;
7. Managing and updating contact lists and databases;
8. Responding to requests for information and distributing publications and other documents;
9. Preparing, formatting and distributing documents, including web content;
10. Assisting with hiring interns and training staff;
11. Scheduling, preparing for and taking minutes at meetings;
12. Assisting with editing and translating documents; and
13. Performing other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:  An undergraduate degree in communications, marketing, social sciences, or related studies is required.
Experience:  Minimum 2 -3 years of relevant of event planning or other fundraising experience.
Related Skills and Knowledge: 
1. Creativity, initiative, follow-through and excellent organizational skills are required.
2. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and German are required.
3. Prior knowledge and experience with Raiser's Edge or similar fundraising software is strongly preferred.
4. The ability to work well under pressure and to manage multiple priorities, working effectively toward deadlines is required.
5. Strong interpersonal skills in order to work collaboratively within Human Rights Watch as well as with external partners are required.
6. Demonstrated commitment to human rights and/or international issues and the capacity to master and represent the mission and programs of Human Rights Watch are highly desirable.
Other: Applicants for this position must possess current EU work authorization valid for the duration of the contract.
Contract Duration:  Fixed-term contract through May 2015. 
Salary and Benefits:  Annualized salary range starts at EUR 33,000.  Human Rights Watch offers comprehensive employer-paid benefits.
