Finance Manager - Africa

£28,586 - £29,923 per annum, plus per diem of circa $11,000pa & generous benefits

MAG is a humanitarian organisation, working in conflict and former conflict zones to reduce the devastating effects of armed violence and the remnants of conflict for the benefit of local communities. We release land back to the local population, thereby enabling recovery and assisting further development and we tackle poverty by training and employing local staff. We take a community focused approach to our work, maximizing the benefits of our work for local families and workers. Robust and efficient Financial Management are essential to the implementation of MAG’s life sustaining work. We are currently seeking expressions of interest from individuals who would like to be considered for Finance Manager positions with MAG in our projects in Africa.

Reporting to the Country Director, you will have overall responsibility for the financial management of the programme, including control of expenditure, budgeting, cash flow management, improving systems, financial planning and administration. In addition, a key aspect of all our Finance Manager roles will be to build the capacity of national support staff in the finance function.

You will need to be a fully qualified accountant, with previous experience of working in a similar role. In addition, successful candidates will be able to demonstrate an ability to work independently, be managed from a distance and build excellent working relationships with project stakeholders. You should also be able to demonstrate the ability to report in a timely and accurate manner.

Benefits

Finance Managers are rewarded with generous benefits both financial and non-financial. The salary for this position is £26,586 - £29,923 per annum and in some locations an additional £2,000pa hardship allowance. MAG also provides per diem as a contribution to food and living costs, providing an additional allowance between $9,000 - $14,000 per annum,

Other benefits include 6 weeks annual leave per year, rising to 8 weeks with service and in hardship locations, an additional 2 weeks “Breather Breaks” in regional destinations. MAG also provides three international leave flights per annum, cover for medical costs, accommodation in-country & comprehensive insurance.
