Associate Partner, European Markets and Co-ordination

Ofgem is working with a range of partners and regulators across Europe to support the development of an integrated European energy market.

Our Associate Partner will play a leading role in this work with a particular focus on three key areas:

  • Ensuring a clear strategy is in place for the completion, implementation and enforcement of European Network Codes and that Ofgem fulfils its commitments in regard to this project;
  • Leading on the business opportunities that an integrated European energy market present to our GB wholesale energy market;
  • Co-ordinating all European activity within Ofgem, ensuring we are well informed on developments in Europe and our international strategies are fit for purpose and well informed.

You will need the following skills and experience:

  • A depth of experience in strategic thinking and policy-making;
  • An understanding of the European Target Models for gas and electricity and the institutions in Europe responsible for bringing this into effect;
  • An understanding of GB wholesale market arrangements;
  • An excellent track record in building relationships at a senior level;
  • Strong influencing and communication skills;
  • Excellent team and project management and delivery skills;
  • Be a confident, accomplished and experienced leader, able to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
This role will involve regular travel throughout Europe.
