Manager – European Electricity Transmission Policy

The UK’s electricity transmission systems are changing in response to the need to facilitate more renewable generation and to integrate energy policy across Europe. This role will play a vital part in representing UK consumers’ best interests through influencing and advising on European energy policy and regulation. This will be achieved through establishing successful and productive relationships with domestic stakeholders and European counterparts and regulators. The appointed individual will ensure that Ofgem is fully aware of anticipated changes and developments in this marketplace and that our strategies adapt accordingly to ensure the best outcome for consumers.

You will need the following skills and experience:

Essential

  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent professional qualification;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Understanding of developing policy in a public sector or commercial environment;
  • Experience in policy analysis and ability to develop an understanding of complex/technical issues;
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with a diverse range of stakeholders to deliver policy objectives against challenging deadlines;
  • Influencing skills and the ability to represent Ofgem externally;
  • Experience in briefing and advising senior staff.

Desirable

  • Knowledge or experience of GB and/or European network regulation, energy policy, and the European legislative process.
