SNV is looking for one or more:
Communications Consultants Renewable energy
 For a number of communication assignments
(Consultancy contract)
Over the last two years SNV has deepened its work in three selected sectors: Agriculture; Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) and Renewable Energy/Climate Change (RE). Within the Renewable Energy sector SNV will contribute to 1) increased access to sustainable, clean and reliable energy sources for households and small enterprises and 2) the development of a vibrant renewable energy sector with an adequate enabling environment 3) reduction of carbon emissions.  
SNV recently undertook a major organizational change to drive SNV`s focus towards these three key sectors. SNV Corporate Renewable Energy Office, based in Burkina Faso / Ouagadougou is seeking a professional Communication Consultant for the Renewable Energy Sector. It is a challenging assignment. The Consultant preferable has affinity with RE Sector. He/she will play an important role to support SNV to profile externally and to facilitate SNV`s RE sector future communication.
Responsibilities
You will work in close coordination with the Managing Director, Global Sector Coordinator and HR advisor Renewable Energy, and will be responsible for:
  1. Identification,  quality verification,  gathering and distribution of internal and external publications and reports
  2. Management and updating of the on-line RE library
  3. Writing, editing and lay out of articles, newsletters, leaflets
  4. Coach staff in writing case studies and project references
  5. Facilitate on line internal discussion groups in different subsectors and summarize  discussion outcomes
  6. Identify relevant social media fora  and blogs and encourage SNV staff to react
  7. Improve/maintain SNV profile on partner websites.   
  8. Coordinate the making of short films about renewable energy projects
Candidate profile
  • A well-seasoned, creative communication professional with Renewable Energy background,  and experience in  PR and knowledge management
  • University/Master’s Degree in communication, marketing, journalism or another related field, or in renewable energy with several years of experience in professional communication
  • Significant experience in working at a strategic level with an ability to translate the core business of the SNV RE sector into  clear messages
  • Excellent written skills in English (native English or native-level proficiency)
  • Experience  in an international development context
  • Willingness to travel
Contract Duration: We offer a competitive consultancy contract for a considerable number of hours based on the known number of assignments for the period September – December 2013.
Desired start date: As soon as possible
