This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to lead humanitarian strategy and operations for Save the Children globally.
Save the Children is the world’s leading independent organisation for children working in 120 countries. All our international programs are now successfully transitioned into a single management structure with a clear in-built humanitarian imperative. We have made sustained and significant investments in humanitarian capacity and last year responded to over 70 emergencies around the world, in each case aiming to reach over 20% of affected populations. We are committed to doing what it takes to take next step-up, harnessing the full power of the Save the Children movement – partnering, innovating, advocating and going to scale to achieve more as a humanitarian leader. An exceptional Humanitarian Director will be pivotal to achieving this.
To be successful in this role, you will have significant senior level leadership and management experience and a large and complex humanitarian and/or crisis management agency, as well as senior field operations experience in both complex and rapid onset emergencies. With substantial knowledge of international humanitarian systems, donors & institutions, and best practices in emergency management, you will also have the highest level of expertise in representation and negotiation with government, donors and international agencies.
