Barrick (Granny Smith) Pty Ltd is located 950kms north east of Perth and 23kms south of Laverton and has been one of Australia’s leading gold producers for the last 15 years. With continued growth in our underground mining operations and an exciting exploration portfolio, the projected mine life is 8 years based on the current reserves.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experience Open Pit Manager to get on-board as the Project Lead through a Feasibility Study and taking this project through to production.
Reporting to the Mining Manager, you will be the Project Lead responsible for ensuring that the Feasibility team achieves all technical, planning and production aspects of the study to a high standard and achieved in a timely manner with the intention of creating a large gold open pit.
Pre-commitment negotiations have commenced for purchasing of the new mining fleet, governmental approvals well underway and further drilling campaigns are being planned. The schedule is tight but realistic with breaking dirt planned for late 2013. You will also be pivotal team member required to integrate the open pit operation into the current medium sized underground operation.
Experience and qualifications required:
This role will suit an experienced Engineer who has held a role as a Technical Services Superintendent or an Open Pit Manager at a smaller operation looking to take the next step.
• Substantial relevant experience
• First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate
• Exemplary personal skills such as ability to lead people, build teams, good communication skills and the capability to generate improvement ideas across site.
• Actively champion a high level and understanding of safety
