STRUCTURAL ENGINEER AT COWI INDIA
Responsibilities
You will be the hub in work with the prioritized focus of increasing cooperation between COWI Sweden's Buildings division and COWI India's equal. You will be the COWI Sweden Project Manager's and Senior Engineers primary and natural point of contact as well as our Indian colleagues sparring partner regarding technical and standard issues. You will be our common source for communication regarding project issues, methodology and technology.
The position is one as senior specialist in COWI and will challenge your abilities regarding flexibility, technical competence, creativeness, problem solving, structured work process and be sharp, keen and responsive towards both Swedish as well as Indian colleagues needs for support on daily issues. You will have a central role to play in distributed work, as you will help realise our ambition to increase our market shares, turnover and profitability. You will also work together with the Chennai office’s other Scandinavians, including Swedish and Danish colleagues that visit the office to prepare for new projects etc.
You will refer both to the COWI Sweden Building Division's Distributed Work Board as well as to the Scandinavian on-site office manager in Chennai.
About you
- You are a Structural Engineer with 7-10 years of experience in structural design.
- You are very well familiar with Swedish Standards and way of working in structural design.
- You are very well familiar with pre-cast concrete design and engineering.
- You can act as mentor and sparring partner to our Indian and Swedish colleagues in structural design and engineering.
- You understand cultural differences and opportunities.
- You have good English and Swedish skills, in speech and writing.
- You have great cooperation skills, and the ability to build bridges between project participants and to guide/lead colleagues.
- You are sympathetic of nature, and communicate and resolve conflicts in a respectful, smooth and constructive way.
- You are proactive, ambitious and take initiative.
- You are structured, quality-minded and flexible. You take pride in delivering good quality on time.
- You thrive in a busy environment with deadlines, challenges and changes.
- Knowledge of Revit is an advantage.
Background
For years, COWI’s strategy has involved using distributed work on design assignment, whenever possible. Indian engineers and CAD operators are assigned to projects in Sweden and cooperate with their Swedish colleagues.
As a consequence, the Swedish Building Division, which numbers some 250 employees, co-operates an office in Chennai, which employs 50 Indian engineers and CAD operators who work on projects in Denmark and other countries.
This boosts our competitive capacity and increases our flexibility in terms of staffing and deliverables.
To continue to provide high-quality services, a smoother cooperation flow and updated Scandinavian know-how, Scandinavian electrical, mechanical and structural engineers are also part of the office.
