Chief Examiner for Visual Arts

The processes of designing and making art require a high level of cognitive activity that is both intellectual and affective. Study of visual arts provides students with the opportunity to develop a critical and intensely personal view of themselves in relation to the world. The Diploma Programme visual arts course enables students to engage in both practical exploration and artistic production, and in independent contextual, visual and critical investigation.
The International Baccalaureate® (IB) is currently seeking to make the appointment of: Chief Examiner for Visual Arts
Applicants must have:
  • recent experience in teaching / lecturing Art in higher education
  • academic qualifications in the subject at an appropriate level
  • availability to fulfil commitments, attend meetings, meet deadlines and respond to queries
  • enthusiasm for e-marking
  • commitment to international education
  • management experience/leadership skills
  • reliable broadband internet connection
  • knowledge of Spanish and/or French would be an advantage.

Senior Examiners supervise a subject's examining teams, maintaining the integrity of IB assessment.
Appointments will last a maximum of five years. Much of the work can be carried out from home; occasional meetings in one of the IB's European offices may be required.
The closing date for applications is Friday 10th January 2014.
Successful applicants will be notified by the end of May 2014.
Appointments will take effect from September 2014.
