Diesel Electrical Fitter

Windhoek

Paterson Grading: C2

Purpose of the Job:

The successful candidate to perform electrical and mechanical work during the overhauling, repair and maintenance of locomotives components and equipment, and to execute emergency services during train derailments and breakdowns.

Requirements:

• A Grade 12 with Mathematics plus 4-year Diesel Electrical Trade Apprenticeship Diploma
• A valid driver's licence
• Completion of a 4-year diesel electrical apprenticeship
• Working knowledge and understanding of the repair and maintenance of locomotive engines and components
• Safety and good housekeeping skills
• Diagnostics and troubleshooting skills
• The ability to adjust to new technologies and work irregular hours
• Physical fitness.

Key performance areas:

• Repair and maintain locomotives
• Repair damaged and breakdown locomotives
• Execute emergency services in respect of train derailments
• Promote safety and good housekeeping.
