The Organisation
QGC is a leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on supplying cleaner hydrocarbon energy to growing domestic and international markets.
We are establishing Queensland Curtis LNG, a world-first project to turn reserves of natural coal seam gas in the Surat and Bowen basins in Queensland into liquefied natural gas (LNG) – a carbon efficient fuel.
QGC, which is wholly owned by the British energy company BG Group, employs more than 4,300 staff and contractors. 
Position Summary
• Prepare for, co-ordinate and manage site environmental management at handover of the QCLNG site from Bechtel to QGC.
• Work with QGC’s Environmental Permitting function to identify and secure all permitting requirements for operation of the LNG plant at Curtis Island.
• Work with QCLNG Project on environmental and other compliance items required to be completed prior to takeover of the QCLNG site from Bechtel, to ensure completion by Project / Bechtel and allow smooth transition of compliance requirements into LNG Operations.
• Work with the Environmental Compliance function on the implementation and continual improvement of the Operations Environmental Management System.
Key Accountabilities
Position Specific• Track permits and license required for LNG plant operations.
• For environmental and other approval conditions (e.g. EIS) that must be met during plant commissioning, start-up and operation, track progress and status and work with Projects to ensure close-out of items required to be completed before handover of the site to LNG Operations.
• Work with the QGC Central Environment / Permitting and Compliance team to ensure Environmental Authority and other permits and approvals are suitable for LNG Operations, and coordinate any required permit amendments.
• Manage key government stakeholders in conjunction with the QGC Central Environment Team.
• Coordinate the delivery of all relevant permit deliverables, in conjunction with the Compliance and Central Environment Teams.
• Utilise the compliance management system to track and ensure closeout of all compliance requirements.
• Provide environmental input and assist with environmental components of the LNG Facility induction program.
• Oversee and participate in environmental incident investigations, in conjunction with site contract environmental personnel and the Central Environment Team. This is to include the assignment and tracking of corrective actions to rectify any non-compliance identified.
• Oversee site environmental awareness and training programs.
• Interface with the midstream project compliance management activities to ensure seamless transition from construction through to operations.
• Provide all regulatory compliance reporting in coordination with QGC Central Environment / Compliance team.
• Complete the development and implementation of site environmental management plans and procedures in advance of LNG Operations.
• Upon handover of the QCLNG site from Bechtel / Project to LNG Operations, coordinate all site environmental management, monitoring and reporting requirements, including engagement and oversight of contract site environmental personnel.
• Provide audit and assurance assistance over compliance activities.

People Management• Mentor and coach staff and provide a positive role model in key areas of the operation, and especially with regard safety and environment.
• Manage site environment personnel.
• The incumbent must abide by company policy in relation to HR policies and procedures such as annual HR cycle and meet deadlines within the appropriate timeframes.

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience Needed
• Degree qualified, preferably in Environment
• Demonstrated experience in site environmental management
• Demonstrated experience in the Queensland permits and licensing processes
• A good understanding of the state and federal regulations relevant for LNG operations
• Proven experience in managing budgets
• Proven experience in stakeholder management
 
Knowledge, Languages,
Skills and Attributes

• Demonstrated commitment to safety
• Some understanding of our EIS commitments
• Sound knowledge of LNG operations
• Ability to use appropriate structured tools and processes to deliver plant performance improvement
• Track record of demonstrating success at delivering against targets
• Demonstrates a good understanding of cost control
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with a proven ability to engage with a broad spectrum of people
• Active team player, participating in the attainment of team goals, encouraging and leading continuous improvement
• Highly effective stakeholder management and negotiation skills with the ability to influence and direct as appropriate
