ASSOCIATE DEAN FOR STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS AND EXTERNAL AFFAIRS

Dean James Steinberg and his colleagues at the Maxwell School and Syracuse University seek an accomplished and entrepreneurial partner who can make a substantial contribution to raising the Maxwell School’s profile and expanding the School’s national and global impact, by shaping communication strategies that leverage the extraordinary assets and achievements of the School and its community and drive increased engagement and revenue.

The Associate Dean will play a senior leadership role at the School, creating and leading communication about the School, and managing staff in communications, media relations, domestic and international fundraising, alumni relations, and other external affairs, including domestic and international partnerships.

The first school in the country devoted to citizenship and public affairs, and consistently recognized as one of the world's best schools of public affairs and social science, Maxwell celebrates its 90th anniversary in 2014. The Associate Dean will have the opportunity to make a substantial and lasting contribution to a ten-year plan that will lead the School into its second century.

Candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of eight years of progressively responsible professional experience. Strong candidates will have fifteen or more years of professional experience, a reputation for building productive relationships with leading scholars, and an advanced degree.
