Legal Counsel – Edinburgh

We have a current opening for an experienced Legal Counsel, to work within our International Supply Centre (ISC)

The ISC is a newly created market within Global Supply & Procurement responsible for leading Diageo’s manufacturing and supply chain operations for the island of Ireland, Scotland, Italy and England. The ISC includes over 50 sites, most of them in Scotland, with circa 5000 employees and leads the inception and production of some of the world’s most famous and admired brands.

The Legal Counsel, will support the Scottish supply business within the ISC, and will be responsible for providing excellent and pro-active legal support to the ISC, with particular focus on the supply and procurement functions.

Key Deliverables:

· Draft, negotiate and implement a wide variety of contracts that maximise Diageo’s commercial objectives, and mitigate risks.

· Provide legal support in commercial matters and interact effectively with internal and/or external stakeholders.

· Provide training to build knowledge and competency in implementing contracts across the Supply and Procurement functions

· Champion the embedding of a compliance culture within ISC

Key Skills & Experience:

· Previous similar experience, preferably including some in-house experience.

· Admitted as a solicitor in Scotland, England and Wales, or equivalent common law jurisdiction.

· Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.

· Ability to work confidently, persuasively and to gain the respect and trust of colleagues of all levels

· Ability to form strong relationships.
