Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology (SMRT) is a Business Area (BA) of the Sandvik Group and a leading supplier of equipment and tools, services, support and technical solutions for the mining industry and specialist sectors such as quarrying, tunneling, demolition, dimensional stone, recycling and the civil engineering industry. SMRT's offering covers drilling and mechanical cutting, loading and hauling, crushing and screening, demolition and recycling, and various solutions to increase automation. In 2016 the annual sales amounted to about SEK 31 093 M, with around 14 000 employees. We are now looking for an experienced and dynamic Legal Counsel for Region Europe. This is a full-time position and based in Finland (preferably at our site in Tampere or Turku).
Job Profile
In this role, you will be a part of and report into the SMRT Legal Support Function and play an important part in supporting the SMRT sales organization in Europe and the SMRT product areas/production units. You will advise the SMRT sales organization with drafting, reviewing and negotiation of various types of commercial contracts such as sales agreements, framework agreements and distribution agreements while continuing roll-out of common processes and trainings. You will also advise SMRT product areas/production units on their indirect and direct purchasing for goods and/or services and support in R&D projects and initiatives. You will manage disputes (at times through external counsel) and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and Sandvik Group policies and procedures.
Your Profile
You have a Master of Law degree, and at least four years of experience in commercial contracts and corporate law gained within a business law firm and/or an in-house legal function role - preferably in a multinational company.
Your previous experience in the mining, construction and/or manufacturing sectors will be considered as a merit. You have a proven track record of successfully advising a significant corporation on a wide range of legal issues and on delivering of pragmatic and business oriented solutions to legal matters and problems. In addition to first class technical legal skills, you will possess strong business acumen and judgment, being able to effectively switch between the roles of legal and commercial advisor. Your language skills in Finnish and English must be advanced, both verbally and in writing. At times the job requires travelling.
