Logistics Operations Manager-North America

Sandvik Mining & Rock Technologyis a business area within the Sandvik Group and a leading global supplier of equipment and tools, service and technical solutions for the mining industry. The offering covers rock drilling, rock cutting, rock crushing, loading and hauling and materials handling.
Key performance areas
As the Logistics Operations Manager-North America you will manage the North America Core Network and Logistics PA to ensure cost effective and on-time distribution of parts (including C&S) and tools to internal and external Sandvik Customers.
The Logistics Operations Manager will also:
  • Actively contribute to the reduction of cost by providing leadership to the regional Logistics Team
  • Manage performance and compliance of Logistics Service Providers
  • Manage and Develop Continuous Improvement initiatives for the logistics operation, focusing on the optimal cost distribution of goods through the network
  • Manage the overall customer order flow process through logistics operations, which includes order administration, expediting, delivery, etc.
  • Facilitate a sustainable workforce through a formal succession plan using and applying the most up to date training methods
  • Be responsible for overseeing all day to day operation of the Logistics team
  • Focus on developing Operational Excellence, Continuous improvement & implementing global standards
  • Oversee the order to delivery performance (Inbound & Outbound)
  • Develop and execute Network Design in collaboration with Logistics Transformation
  • Work with vendor management (3PL and Other)
Your profile
The Logistics Operations Manager must possess a minimum of 8 years’ experience in a similar position in a Warehousing/Distribution/Supply Chain environment. You will also have knowledge of modern manufacturing methods and the mining industry.
Additionally, the Logistics Operations Manager possesses:
  • Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management or a related field desirable
  • A strong customer service focus
  • Experience in managing internal and external customers
  • Demonstrative knowledge of International Trade and Freight Insurance processes (Booking, Invoice Validation)
  • Experience with a Transport Management System
  • Prior exposure to Aurora, DI and Qlikview desirable
  • Proficient in Microsoft office – Excel Dashboard specifically
  • Exposure to Accounts Payable Processes
