Funding and Business Development Manager

Funding and Business Development Manager (2 Year-Contract) Kabul, Afghanistan £24,000 Annual net Salary, £ 3000 net H.T.W allowance per annum, plus other benefits

After nearly three decades of chronic conflict and, for the last three years, the worst drought in living memory, Afghanistan remains one of the poorest nations in the world. Millions of people face constant threats to their security, and life threatening poverty. But at Oxfam, we’re changing things. Now, to ensure we can continue managing natural resources, mobilising communities and enhancing livelihoods, we need to raise funds from an even broader range of donors. And improve the way we work with them.

About the role In today’s economic climate, it’s harder than ever to get support for our humanitarian projects. Projects that affect the lives of millions – and especially in places like Afghanistan. In this role, we’ll look to you to make sure that our funding here never dries up. You’ll do that by securing more funds from existing institutional donors as well as identifying opportunities to secure new ones. More than that, you’ll make sure that we maintain relationships with the organisations that help us. Whether you’re organising launch workshops, making regular visits or providing progress reports, you’ll be pivotal in ensuring they continue to support our life-changing work.

What we are looking for We’ll be looking for a funding background and you’ll certainly be skilled when it comes to approaching and engaging with institutional donors. A good understanding of humanitarian and long-term development issues is also key here. On a practical level, you know how to juggle different projects and you can monitor and evaluate campaigns. Finally, with strong communication skills, you work well as part of a team.

About Oxfam A simple, inescapable truth underlines everything we do at Oxfam. There’s enough wealth in this world to go around. It’s not unfortunate that people live in poverty. It’s unjustifiable. It’s not their problem. It’s ours too. And with the right support, we can beat poverty and injustice. More than 8,000 people already commit their time and talents to our campaigning, humanitarian and long-term development projects. Now we’re looking for yours.
