Objectives of the role:
To coordinate a variety of activities (communications and visibility, research and dissemination, political dialogue) associated with the implementation of a large technical assistance project in the field of climate change. The expert will be involved with the development of climate change adaptation and mitigation measures and also be required to assist with the development of climate change related policies. The expert will also be involved with the general coordination of what is a multi-country programme and help with the implementation of technical assistance projects.
Length of the project: 36 months
Start Date: September/October 2013
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in political science, engineering, economics, law or other relevant discipline
- Excellent document drafting skills
- Fluent command of both written and spoken Spanish essential with good English and/or French required. Other European languages, especially Portuguese, would be an advantage
- A dynamic person, pro-active, able to work under pressure to tight deadlines
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment
General Professional Experience:
- Professional experience in climate change related projects implemented in Latin America
- Excellent IT skills will be essential
- Administrative support experience will be an asset
- Experience in no regrets measures
Specific Professional Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years working on projects in the environment and/or climate change sector, preferably in Latin America
- Minimum of 5 years overseeing or assisting technical assistance projects
- Minimum of 3 years of working on regional/multi-country projects, preferably in Latin America
