Objectives of the role:
The Team Leader will be responsible for the successful implementation of this project through thecoordination of a variety of activities (communication and visibility, research and dissemination, political dialogue) associated with the implementation of a large technical assistance project in the field of climate change. The team leader will also manage a team of KE/NKEs from a variety of backgrounds and oversee reporting and monitoring activities whilst ensuring the correct functioning of a project that will take place across Latin America.

Length of the project: 36 months
Start Date: September/October 2013

Qualifications and Skills:
  • University Degree (preferably post-graduate) in political science, engineering, economics, law or other relevant discipline
  • Fluent command of both written and spoken Spanish is essential, with good English and/or French required. Other European languages, especially Portuguese, would be an advantage
  • Excellent organisational, communication, analytical and document drafting skills
  • A dynamic person, pro-active, able to work under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment

General Professional Experience:
  • At least 10 years’ experience in working for medium to large multi/bilaterally funded projects with a preference for projects in the environment or climate change sector
  • At least 4 years’ experience as head of technical projects or head of a multitude of technical projects
  • Experience in managing and planning projects

Specific Professional Experience:
  • At least 5 years’ experience in Latin America working on cooperation projects. Preferably projects in the environment or climate change sector
  • Experience in managing interdisciplinary and international teams
  • Experience of multi-country or regional projects requiring political coordination and/or supporting international talks and/or negotiation of international agreements or inter-government communications
  • Experience of organising talks and seminars at an international level
  • Experience in transparent and communicative projects with regards to dealing with all forms of media on topics related to the development of the project
