Senior Research Associate, Middle East Program
The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a leading think tank specializing in international affairs, is seeking a Senior Research Associate with a well-established background and track record in research and writing in any of the following areas: political Islam, democratic transformations, Middle East politics, and/or strong regional expertise and field experience in one or more regional countries in the Levant or North Africa.  The scholar will conduct research, writing, and commentary including book-length publications and shorter policy pieces such as articles, policy outlooks, and opinion pieces in major newspapers and other media outlets. Responsibilities will also include conducting regional workshops and conferences, fundraising for research projects, and interacting with US and international press.  This position will join Carnegie’s Washington, DC-based Middle East Program.
The successful candidate will hold an advanced degree, preferably a Ph.D. in a social science discipline such as political science, international relations, public policy or a related discipline and possess the ability and competence to conduct cutting edge research and outreach with relevance to policymakers.   Ideal candidate will blend academic excellence with experience in policy analysis or public policy, a distinguished record of research and writing, and strong Arabic language skills.
