Director, Internal Oversight
The Director will assess and provide assurance on the adequacy of all aspects of operational processes including governance, risk management, internal controls, compliance and asset management; lead and direct the internal audit service and provide operational and strategic management advice to Management and the Audit Committee. The Director is responsible for evaluating accounting, financial, and other operational activities as an independent appraisal function in line with Internal Auditing Standards and Best Practice. The Director reports administratively to the Executive Director and functionally to the Finance and Audit Committee.
The incumbent will have a minimum of 15 years progressively responsible professional experience in Internal Auditing, of which at least 5 years must be at senior management level. In-depth knowledge and experience working with the International Professional Practices Framework promulgated by the Institute of Internal Auditors is essential. Relevant work experience in an international environment is required, preferably in public health or non-profit organization. Extensive experience in management, supervision, development of staff, assessment of resource needs and their fulfilment is a must. The Director must have demonstrated experience in the implementation of plans, process management, problem solving, and the completion of quality outcomes or products on schedule.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Accounting, Finance or a related field; the director must be a Chartered Accountant/ Certified Public Accountant with strong academic achievements. The Certified Internal Auditor certification is a must. The Certified Information System Auditor and Certified Fraud Examiner Certifications are strongly desirable.
icddr,b offers an internationally competitive remuneration package paid in US dollars. The employment contract is for an initial three-year term with the possibility of extension.
