Part Time Trade Advisor UKTI Team

The Trade & Investment team of the British Embassy, Brussels, part of UK Trade and Investment (www.ukti.gov.uk), is recruiting a temporary part-time locally engaged Trade Advisor. 
UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) is the United Kingdom government’s international trade promotion and business development agency. 
In 2012/13, the Benelux team was part of a worldwide effort to support businesses and this generated £49.6bn in additional sales with UKTI help and UKTI helped land investment projects which brought with them over 60,000 jobs.
Main Role
As part of a small UKTI team you will provide advice and support to UK companies wishing to develop business in Belgium by:
  • Support the organisation of the Benelux market day of the International Festival for Business in Liverpool on 19 June 2014;
  • Conduct market research to identify and promote business opportunities in Belgium for UK companies;
  • Provide hands-on advice to UK companies and answer their enquiries;
  • Assisting in the development and delivery of commercial events promoting business such as seminars, trade visits and sector promotion events;
  • Provide administrative and office support to the trade team.

  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills;
  • Flexibility, a pro-active attitude and the ability to work in a team;
  • Ability to solve problems and take responsibility for your own work;
  • Effective time management: able to handle the multiple priorities of the role within the agreed deadline;
  • Good IT skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook);
  • Fluent written and spoken English, working level knowledge of French and/or Dutch.
Desired
  • Experience in organising events;
  • Experience of dealing with business in an international context;
  • Strong on-line research skills.
This position will be filled on a fixed term contract for 6 months starting in April 2014 subject to security clearance. The hours of work are 29 hours per week but the actual working pattern will be agreed with the successful candidate in line with operational needs. 
Gross monthly salary: € 1828.90
