Policy and Events Intern

This role would be well suited to an enthusiastic, motivated, customer-focused recent graduate looking to develop an expertise in financial services and their experience to a policy officer level.
Candidates should possess a university degree. Candidates must have a keen interest in financial services as well as EU policy and a sound understanding of the EU institutions and processes. Fluent command of English (written and spoken) is required, as are good research; writing; and ICT skills. Working knowledge of French would be highly desirable. As the role includes providing significant support in event management, we require candidates who are well-suited to a customer-facing role, with a hands-on approach to practical and administrative tasks.
Main Duties:
  • Monitor the development of EU policy and legislation in the area of financial services through desk based research, and covering policy events and seminars, including European Parliament committee attendance.
  • Research and write briefings and alerts for City Office Weekly newsletter and Scotland Europa membership publications
  • Support with event management
  • Contribute to the development of meeting programmes to Brussels for Scottish Financial Enterprise officials and other relationship development activities
  • Information management, including web content management
  • General administrative tasks
In addition to these core responsibilities, a certain degree of flexibility is inherent in the role, depending on changing policy priorities for the employers as well as the personal skills and interests of the successful candidate.
