Finance Professionals

Would you like to work overseas and gain a unique experience? Do you want to challenge yourself professionally? Join us as a Médecins Sans Frontières Finance Professional.
The Role:
At any one time, around 2,500 international personnel contribute to a global team of over 30,000 Médecins Sans Frontières field staff who provide emergency medical care in around 70 countries each year. Australian and New Zealander professionals fill more than 200 field positions annually. As the person responsible for project finances, you will undertake one of the most diverse and challenging roles within a Médecins Sans Frontières team.
You will be responsible for project accounts, cash management and security, budget control and financial reporting. You will liaise with local authorities and service providers in relation to all project finance issues. You may also be part of the country management team, coordinating the financial resources for a number of field projects at the same time and contributing to discussion and decisions around project direction.
You would essentially:
  • Have a minimum 2+ years professional experience in accounting, budgeting, financial planning, financial control, or financial reporting
  • Have an ability to work as part of a senior management team, including project planning responsibilities
  • Be available to work in field for a minimum of 12 months
Finance positions are based either in the capital city of countries in which Médecins Sans Frontières operates, with regular visits to field projects in order to better understand the local context and provide effective support to the field-based teams, or in field projects themselves.
