Enrolled Nurse - Theatre (BU)

The successful candidate should be registered with the South African Nursing Council as an Enrolled Nurse and have experience in theatre, with exposure to all relevant areas including anaesthetics, recovery, circulating and CSSD. The incumbent should be able to work under pressure and independently, and should exhibit a meticulous and well-organised work method. Proven, exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English are required, along with sound diplomacy, discretion and interpersonal skills. We require a self-motivated self-starter who is willing to work long hours on an ad hoc basis and to undertake standby duties. The successful candidate should have his/her own transport and should have been declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre.

Duties and responsibilities include: • Nursing care of all patients in the operating room in all areas • Internal emergency preparedness • Stock control • Peri-operative care of all clients, handling of emergency situations during delivery of anaesthesia or during the recovery period and the handling of poly-trauma cases.
