Director - University of Birmingham

The University of Birmingham is a thriving and dynamic institution that combines over a century of heritage with one of the most compelling and ambitious agendas in Higher Education. Ranking within the top 100 institutions globally, the University has embarked upon a five year strategy aimed at further establishing Birmingham as a leading global university; ‘Shaping Our Future: Birmingham 2015’.

At the heart of this strategy are five mutually supportive goals: enhancing research power; providing students with distinctive, high-quality experience; sustaining our financial strength; enhancing performance as an engaged University; and becoming the destination of choice among our peers.
Birmingham Business School sits within the College of Social Sciences and has a reputation for research which extends across the globe. The Business School works with partners across the Institution and is deeply committed to the local and regional economy as well as at a national and international level. Located in UK’s second city, the School is excellently placed to help drive growth within the Institution. Currently in the midst of a significant recruitment campaign, the School continues to pursue an ambitious growth agenda. The Economist recently placed the School’s MBA 9th in the UK and 70th globally; evidence further of our continued upward trajectory.

The University is now seeking to appoint a Director to the School who will harness the exceptional potential. The Director will develop and cultivate internal relationships to foster inter-disciplinary collaboration and research as well as furthering our external engagement with SMEs and global companies through a broad range of activity. Demonstrating exceptional leadership qualities, the new Director will have experience of leadership in a comparative context alongside academic credibility and external standing in order to set and execute the strategy for the School.
