Summary Description

The Program Officer will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and coordinating grant making in support of China’s national efforts at legal reform and establishing a society under the Rule of Law. The goal of this Foundation-wide program is to improve understanding of civil and criminal justice systems and enhance access to justice for poor and marginalized groups and individuals. In China, these goals are pursued through a number of approaches including research, education and training, and promoting, piloting and scaling up of innovative reforms with the support of government.

Under the supervision of the Foundation’s representative for China in Beijing, and the director of the Equality and Justice Unit in New York, the new Program Officer will develop grant making and related activities to build research and educational capacity, to plan innovative communications strategies, and to develop pilot projects that have the potential to be taken to scale with government assistance. The Program Officer will work in partnership with key research institutes, community organizations and government agencies in developing the program.
