Your role:
The Business Development Executive reports to the Commercial Director and works in close collaboration with the British Chamber team as well as with the Chairs of several Committees and Task Forces and a variety of other business partners.
In this role, most important is the capacity to flawlessly understand the needs of internal and external clients and to be able to translate those needs into concrete solutions. It is essential to be confident communicating at a strategic level with international business leaders, to be a skilled researcher of businesses and to use your entrepreneurial talent to generate business development opportunities.
In particular, you will:
- Support the Business Development committee by gathering intelligence about the needs of growing and established companies in Belgium and their strategies. Facilitate event and networking opportunities around topics of common interest. The committee also covers a wide variety of business services that you will manage, ranging from one-off enquiries about tax and employment law to advice on logistics and establishing a company in Belgium.
- Further develop and implement our International Trade & Investment strategy, in collaboration with UK Trade & Investment Belgium, Belgian national and regional development agencies and our EU policy partners.
Manage two specific programmes:
- The Accredited Service Provider programme. This programme offers a platform to promote services of for our full members to our community. It includes planning and delivering of events, communication with ASP’s about the programme, relationship management with APS’s and recruit new ones.
- The Golden Bridge Trade & Export awards rewards on a yearly basis three hugely innovative and entrepreneurial UK companies that are impressive examples of what can be achieved in Belgium. You will identify participants and sponsors, liaise with speakers and manage the event as primary responsible.
- Oversee all business support related activities, keeping an operational oversight thereby including tracking of financial performance of task forces.
- Share responsibility for membership development with entrepreneurial enthusiasm.
Your profile:
- University degree, preferably in economics or international business administration.
- Preferably Dutch/French speaker, with solid English.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the private sector.
- Can demonstrate a strong interest in international business, bilateral trade and has a general knowledge of business support infrastructures.
- Strategic thinker and able to transform ideas into concrete solutions.
- Confident and entrepreneurial mindset.
- Your social and diplomatic skills encourage and reinforce professional relationships. You easily reach out to others, and can adapt to different environments.
- Like all of us, a strong believer in the multiplier effect of team efforts.
- International and multicultural mindset.
