IT Manager

Transparency International (TI) is the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption. Through more than 100 chapters worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin, Germany, TI raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it.
Main function: The IT Manager is responsible for managing, the maintenance of computer hardware, software and networks as well as providing training and consultation on IT matters. The IT Manager makes recommendations about future planning and development of resources. The IT Manager advises the organisation on most appropriate IT solutions.

Duration: limited for 2 years with the possibility of extension

Responsibilities:
· Assisting in the strategic planning and development of the ICT network infrastructure and taking a technical leadership role in key infrastructure improvement projects.
· Designing and building enterprise scale solutions in line with the ICT Strategy; taking full responsibility for the technical design and building of systems & solutions (servers, networks, data centres etc.) including configuration, support and documentation.
· Developing and managing appropriate project documents, plans and associated communications documents; ensuring thorough documentation exists for all current and new processes and systems.
· Coordinating and prioritizing activities, and establishing critical points in the design and development of the projects to obtain results; building, developing, and growing any business relationships vital to the success of the projects.
· Planning and managing a preventative server and infrastructure maintenance schedule for good housekeeping routinely carrying out maintenance procedures on systems and equipment across the enterprise including checking backups, event logs and general configuration; applying technical specialism in ensuring server management is consistent with good design and industry best practise.
· Line managing, supervising and coaching relevant members of the team, and delegating tasks and responsibilities to appropriate staff; providing at all times a professional, courteous and rapid response to individual user requests.
· Providing new ideas and approaches to existing problems and developing technical solutions; assisting in the planning and implementation of a fully tested and thorough disaster recovery plan as well as security policy.
Knowledge, experience and skills:
· Relevant IT degree and/or applicable professional qualifications or equivalent experience in the IT sector
· 10 or more years practical experience in related fields
· Experience managing server builds and managing configuration of complex infrastructure applications as well as building and deploying scalable robust global solutions
· Considerable experience in ICT architecture design, build and support
· Experience managing small to medium sized projects from conception to delivery (good working knowledge of Prince2)
· Strong technical background in a Windows Server environment and visualization (MS Exchange, AD, SQL, DNS etc.)
· Expertise in a Microsoft and Linux environment, hands-on working experience with SharePoint, Lync, and SCCM an advantage
· Experience in Linux server administration an advantage
· Aptitude for quickly grasping new technical concepts
· Highly developed diagnosis and problem solving skills
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and initiatives in parallel without compromising quality
· Ability to effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
· Excellent communication and time management skills
· Ability to motivate people and lead small teams
· High standard of written and spoken English and German
