Project Director, English Access Microscholarship Program

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of: Project Director, English Access Microscholarship Program, in Washington, DC.
Leads and directs the development and implementation process for company projects involving departmental or cross -functional teams focused on the delivery of new or existing projects. Plans and directs project schedules and monitors budget/spending. Monitors the project/program from init iation through delivery. Organizes project(s) activities ensuring completion of the project on schedule and within budget constraints. Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
We seek a Project Director to provide overall programmatic and operational management of the English Access Microscholarship Program (http://www.fhi360.org/projects/english-access-microscholarship-program-a...), a large-scale global program that promotes and supports English language acquisition in over 80 countries.
The English Access Microscholarship Program (Access) provides a foundation of English-language skills to talented 13- to 20-year-olds from disadvantaged sectors around the world through after-school classes and intensive summer sessions in their home communities. As part of their course work, Access students gain an appreciation for American culture and democratic values, increase their ability to participate in their countries’ socioeconomic development and better prepare themselves to compete for future U.S. exchange and study programs.
The program also provides U.S.-based professional development and English-language workshops for selected teachers and students. Since the program’s inception in 2004, over 85,000 students in more than 85 countries have participated in Access activities.
- Minimum of a Master’s degree in business, public administration, education, international education, or a related field.
- 10+ years of management experience with complex international education or international exchange projects, including financial management.
- Superior supervisory skills.
- Demonstrated excellence managing budgets, following A-133 audit requirements.
- Experience working in a Non-government organization (NGO) or experience working with an international organization is highly desirable.
- Experience working with English as a Foreign or Second Language (EFL / ESL) programs is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop staff, plan strategically and meet program objectives.
- Exceptional team player with strong interpersonal skills demonstrated by the ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
- Supervise the planning and development of standard operating procedures and processes, systems and overall operations for a complex, global program, serving constituents in more than 85 countries worldwide.
- Oversee the design, architecture and timely development of a large-scale, web-based database that addresses multi-stakeholder and funder requirements, as well as internal organizational needs.
- Maintain and further develop excellent relationships with our funding partner, the U.S. Department of State, and other external stakeholders, including but not limited to, global in-country liaisons at U.S. Embassies or Consulates.
- Lead a collaborative development process for protocols for issuing, managing, and monitoring sub-agreements for in-country educational program providers.
- Lead, manage and mentor the existing team of five and continue to strategically expand, structure and professionally develop the team to align with organizational objectives and strategic program growth.
- Oversee all aspects of program operations, including communications and reporting.
- Collaborate closely with external funder and internal management to develop and cultivate a strategic vision and long-term strategic plan for the program.
- Represent the program and FHI 360 at both internal and external events, and collaborate with the department director on strategic planning and business development, including leading proposal teams.
